Prayers and blessings as our travel day begins

From my friend (Thank you, Dick!):  Tonight, you'll be sailing in darkness through the clouds across the Atlantic. Peek from the window from time to time to see the grandeur of this planet, look for ships from 7 miles up, as they travel the dark sea. Look for stars, the moon, other planes. Look for the horizon just before dawn as a faint light appears on the whole curve of the globe. Then say a prayer of gratitude that you are blessed to see this creation from this lofty vantage point. Also say a prayer of thanksgiving for the generations of dreamers, scientist and engineers that make modern aviation possible. Ok, and a small prayer of petition that all works well and you arrive safely in Paris, awestruck again by how any of this is possible.

From the Book of Common Prayer:  Gracious and loving, God, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go; Preserve those who travel -- Paige, Melissa, Michaela, Colleen, Melanie, Zoe, Julie, Kritsi, and Maureen; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey's end; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
