London

The day started with a continental breakfast before being bustled to a bus into the City.  Sorry.  Nikki, our tour guide, told us that no one says that.  One says, “I’m going to town.”  Nikki was very entertaining and certainly new her city.  She had several quips I can’t possibly remember tonight as I’m typing.  We saw Big Ben (big hit w/ Zoe), Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace (w/ a Guard Parade – PHENOMENOL!).  It rained a bit then, but then it wouldn’t have been England w/out rain.

We split, then, from the Oregon group (who went to Windsor), and we went in search of food.  We found The Albert, and the food there was a big hit.  We then made our way to the London Eye, the one MUST-SEE of London.  It was indescribable, and the photos are AMAZING!  (We have a picture that we cannot explain.  More about that later).

After that, our group split up.  Paige, Zoe, and Colleen went with Julie and Maureen shopping, while Michaela, Melanie, and Melissa (The 3 Ms!) went to the Tower of London with Kristi and Janet.  Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to do the Tower justice (we had an hour when a good tour would have been at least 2 hrs), so we made our way to the Tower Bridge (sometimes called the London Bridge).

We all met again at Piccadilly Circus before making our way to Mela (an Indian restaurant) for dinner, which met with mixed reviews).

We split again.  A couple came back to the hotel, while a few others did some more shopping and saw the Harry Potter 9 ¾ Platform at King’s Crossing.

We are scheduled for a 3:30 wake-up call (provided in the morning by Kristi), which is 9:30 pm Wisconsin time.  That is reason enough to wrap this up!

Every one is missing all those who love and miss them from the States!  Everyone is managing all that really well. Just know that you are all very present with us on this trip.

Tomorrow morning we're off on the EuroStar to Paris.  We get to nap on the train (rumor has it), and we begin a walking tour as soon as we arrive!

More from Paris.
